The PROSAS SLH PS-60 is a synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) system with center frequency of 60 kHz and capable of operating at depths up to 6,000 meters. The SLH PS-60 platform provides seafloor imagery at 10cm x 10cm resolution up to 1,500 meters each side. Interferometric bathymetry is available at up to 80% of the image range. The PROSAS SLH PS-60 system combines Raytheon - Applied Signal Technology's extensive algorithm development and sonar design, SL Hydrospheric's neutrally buoyant deep-tow vehicle, and SL Hydrospheric's power and fiber-optic telemetry system. The 6 meter long deep-tow vehicle houses a Raytheon-AST pressure housing, SL Hydrospheric Power/Telemetry pressure housing, two 3-meter receive arrays, two transmit arrays, a Kearfott ring laser gyroscopic inertial navigation system (INS), an AML Oceanographic Sound Velocity Profiler (SVP), a Paroscientific Digiquartz depth sensor, and IXSEA Posidonia ultra-short baseline system (USBL), a Teledyne-RDI Doppler Velocity Logger (DVL) and various emergency release and locating apparatus. Optional sensors include a multi-beam echosounder (MBES), sub-bottom profiler (SBP) and others.

The Ratheon AST topside processing system implements complex SAS algorithms as well as an INS Graphical User Interface to control the INS and accept sensor data from the USBL, DVL, SVP and depth sensors. Topside processing hardware includes two eight-core Xeon processors and displays allowing real-time viewing of both port and starboard SAS waterfalls, multi beam sidescan and bathymetry.

Our system provides a new level of deep, long range, high definition imagery ideal for oceanographic mapping for the commercial, research and private sectors including but not limited to pipe and cable route surveys, wreck and salvage searches and seafloor conservation mapping.
